The year was 1968 and I was living the Hawaiian lifestyle...I was living the dream. I still remember the sand at my feet, sun that turned to magnificent sunsets, trying to catch the perfect wave, bonfires at the beach with friends, and wishing it would never end. Not long after my days in Hawaii, I left the beautiful shores and Hawaiian culture to pursue a different dream. I now dreamt of wealth, stability, supporting my family, and the hopes that one day I would return to Hawaii, to recapture that Aloha Spirit I left behind.
I spent the next several decades building my empire, by way of the corporate world. I took a job in finance, believing it would be the smartest, long-term move I could make, for me and my family. I was a penny pincher, saving for a rainy day, as I was taught in my childhood. I took advantage of my company's 401k plan and contributed the maximum amount I could, sometimes at the expense of our leisure. However, I never doubted this plan for a moment, and always worked hard and stayed true to this dream.
Then 2008 rolled around, and my dreams came to an abrupt halt. Suddenly, I was in one of the least desirable positions and industries in the U.S. Fellow co-workers were let go from our offices, almost daily. Week after week, I watched my 401k lose thousands and thousands of dollars. Two years from retirement, suddenly everything I worked for seemed to be slipping away, and the worst part, I had no control over it...or at least that's what I thought. Then I heard about a franchise concept called Maui Wowi Hawaiian and of course my first reaction was, GREAT name. My second reaction was, I've got to learn more about this company that appears to embody the Aloha Spirit and Hawaiian culture.
So, I did my research and learned that this company did in fact embrace the spirit and culture of the islands. They also had a well thought out business plan, strong product line, unique appeal, structured programs, low cost investment, and flexible business models. The fact that I could purchase a Cart or Kiosk from Maui Wowi with little money out of my pocket - (in fact, less money than what I lost in my 401k accounts), had me interested and wanting to be a part of this. With the help of Maui Wowi Hawaiian, I realized that I can be in control of my destiny and have everything I ever dreamed of. I can realize my financial dreams, while embracing the Aloha Spirit I left behind, on the North Shore in 1968. I can work when I want, vacation when I want, and make as much money as I set my mind to. I was even told I'd qualify for their Military discount because my time in the Navy, the discount will save nearly $9000.00 up front.
So, while my hair might be a slightly different shade, and I may not be as quick on my surfboard as I once was, I can have my happy ending and it will be even better than I ever imagined. If you are like me and don't have the time to wait for the 401k to bounce back, so you can realize your dreams, give Maui Wowi Hawaiian a call and see if they can help you too. This Baby Boomer is taking control and is ready to go Hawaiian for good. See you on the beaches!
